Carers Activities
Every day over six thousand people are taking on a carers responsibility. Hence, every year 2 million people become carers, which can be very lonely, frightening and confusing. A carer is defined as someone who provides care for others on an unpaid basis. Consequently, this can impact on the carers own mental, physical and emotional well-being.
The Trafford South Asian Mental Health Service (TSAMHS) recognises the valuable contribution carers have made in the recovery and well-being of individuals who experience mental health. For the past 5 years the TSAMHS has been creative in organising and planning carers short breaks. TSAMHS recognises and listens to carers views and ideas to what they classify as a short break. For example, many carers stated that they did not want to access short breaks if it meant leaving the cared for person behind.
It is important to note that where possible TSAMHS ensures that carers and their families are able to access activities at a discounted price or events which are free.
